Question 327330: Im studying for the fire department test and one of the questions in my practice book says How many ounces of water should be added to 24 ounces of an alcohol/water solution containing 44% alcohol to dilute the mixture to 20% alchohol. This doesn't fit the formula given and im really confused, and i was wondering if this problem has a different formula? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!!

Write a concentration equation.
Let X be the number of ounces of water which would be a 0% solution.
You need to add 28.8 ounces of water.

Shortcut: (24)(24/20)=28.8 oz of water
