Question 301711:
Need your help in setting this problem up.
How many gallons of 20% antifreeze solution and a 10% antifreeze solution must be mixed to obtain 40 gallons of a 16% antifreeze solution?

Answer by Fombitz(32388)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First name the variables.
A-gallons of 20% solution
B-gallons of 10% solution
Then set up an equation for the total volume of solution.
1.
Then set up an equation for the concentration of the solution.

2.
Now you have 2 equations in 2 unknowns.
Solve it using substitution, elimination, etc. to get A and B.
Re=post if you get stuck.
