How much water should be added to 800 cc of a 70% solution of boric acid to make it a 40% solution of boric acid
.
Let x = amount (cc) of water to be added
then
.70(800) = .40(800+x)
560 = 320+.40x
240 = .40x
600 cc = x (amount of water to add)
