How many liters of 10% saline solution must be added to 4 liters of 40% saline solution to get a 15% saline solution?
.
Let x = liters of saline solution added
then
.10x + .40(4) = .15(x+4)
.10x + 1.6 = .15x+0.6
1.6 = .05x+0.6
1 = .05x
1/.05 = x
20 liters = x
