Here's a problem that's similar.
--------------------
How many liters of a 40% acid solution must be added to 12 liters of a 20% solution to obtain a 25% solution?
--------------------
.4x + 12*.2 = (12+x)*.25
Solve for x
x is the amount added
Answer by Grinnell(63) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
30(.70)=(30+x).60
x is the amount of water added, in gallons.
30 +x is the final amount of solution, in gallons.
Again we multiply by 100, removing the decimal.
2100=1800+60x
300=60x
5=x so 5 gallons should be added.
