Max spends $120 per month
Tracey spends $90 per month

To make their own:
1(30) = $30 per month
.
Therefore, they will save:
(120+90) - 30
= 210 - 30
= $180
.

so all together they spend $210.
if they save a doller by making there own they
will save $30.
$1= $30 a month saved
so in one month they end up spending
$210-$30=$180

To have savings the cost has to be compared to another price. You didn't supply any hints as to another price.
Bottom line- bad question or bad copying
