Construction safety standards vary state to state. One state guideline for safewheelchair ramp construction requires 25 ft. of horizontal distance for every 1 foot vertical drop/rise. The A.D.A. is a national organization of disabled people. They set safe ramp slopes between 3% and 5%. I'm to show how the state above is in compliance with A.D.A. (or not).do i take the fraction 1/25 and divide the percents to get two seerate answers to show if it's in compliance at 3 and 5 %? thanks!

The problem is convert 1ft/25ft to a percent. Remember that percent means...out of 100.
You can make a proportion:
1%2F25+=+x%2F100 Multiply both sides by 100 to solve for x.
100%2F25+=+x
x+=+4
So, 1/25 = 4% and
3% < 4% < 5% so it is in compliance.
