Question 190383: How many quarts of pure antifreeze should mr. Alberts add to 10 quarts of a 20% antifreeze solution to make a 50% solution?
Answer by jojo14344(1513) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First condition,
(100%)(AF) + (20%)(10qts) = (50%)(S) -----> Eqn 1
Also we know, AF + 10 qts = S ------> Eqn 2
Substitute Eqn 2 in Eqn 1:
---->
AF = 6 qts , amount of 100% AF needed
We get the total Solution, (via Eqn 2):
Let us check,
