Explain why we place this zero in the second line?

Answer by vleith(2983)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Because 'when you write the second line' you are trying to multiply 37 by 20. Adding in the 'zero' takes care of the 0 in the 20. Then you continue by multiplying 37 by 2.
