let x and y be the amount of 20% and 10% solutions respectively
:
x+y=45..........eq 1
.2x+.1y=.14(45).eq 2
:
rewrite eq 1 to x=45-y and plug that value into eq 2
:
.2(45-y)+.1y=6.3
:
9-.2y+.1y=6.3
:
-.1y=-2.7
