Question 166887: How many pounds of peanuts, costing 70 cents per pound, should by mixed with 30 pounds of cashews, worth $1.20 per pound, to obtain a mixture worth $1.00 per pound?
Answer by Mathtut(3670) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
lets call the number of pounds of peanuts x so number of pound in the mixture would be x+30 which is number of pounds of peanuts and cashews
so ($.7)x+($1.20)(30)=($1)(30+x) simplifying---->.7x +36=30+x---->.3x=6
