Question 157027: I need help working this problem.
1.. You are offered two different jobs selling dental supplies. One company offers a straight commission of 6% on sales. The other company offers a salary of $250 per week plus 3% of sales. How much would you have to sell in a week in order to make the straight commission offer better?
This is not from a text book.
Answer by jojo14344(1513) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let = sales for the week
Equating the salary rate:
---------------> sales should be more than this to have the straight commission a better choice. If the sales is this much, then either/or you can choose because you're getting the same or equal value salary.
To prove, try $10,000 weekly sales:
At 6%:
At $250+ 3%:
See, higher value, the straight commission is better.
Thank you,
Jojo
