.06x=500-.05x+160
.06x+.05x=660
.11x=660
x=660/.11
x=6000 the amount invested @ 6%
10,000-6,000=4,000 invested @ 5%
PROOF:
.06*6000=.05(4,000)+160
360=200+160
360=360
