Let x = the volume of the 90% solution to use, in liters.
Then the volume of the 30% solution is (18-x).
The basic equation is
0.90*x + 0.30*(18-x) = 0.4*28 (it is about the volume of the pure antifreeze)
From the equation
x = = 3 liters.
ANSWER. 3 liters of the 90% solution and (18-3) = 15 liters of the 30% solution.
