You do not get "half of a quadratic" when you graph the inverse of a square root function. The inverse of is which is a complete parabola when graphed. Your question doesn't make any sense. You do get a half-parabola when you graph the inverse of a quadratic, and there is a good reason for that. But that is not the question you asked.
