-----But this is not the formula you need in your example.

The formula you actually need is different.

0.175 L of 3.0 M HCl mix with 0.115 L of 6.0 HCl;
Total volume is .

Total moles of HCl:

Resulting Concentration:
MOLAR

Your formula is, for V in liters and M in molarity

subscript "r" for "resulting mixture"

Solution 1 is 175 ml of 3.0 M HCL
:
Solution 2 is 115 ml of 6.0 M HCL
:
Solution 1
:
175/1000 = 0.175 L
:
Moles = molarity * volume
:
Moles = 3 * 0.175 = 0.525
:
Solution 2
:
115/1000 = 0.115 L
:
Moles = 6 * 0.115 = 0.69
:
Sum the two values to get the total number of moles = 0.525 + 0.69 = 1.215 moles of HCL
:
Sum the volumes of solutions to determine the final volume = 0.175 + 0.115 = 0.29 L
:
*****************************************************************************
Final molarity of the mixed solution = moles / liter = 1.215/0.29 = 4.1897 M
