A + B = 62,    (1)
A - B = 14.    (2)
------------------------Add the two equations:

2A = 62 + 14 = 76  ========>  A =  = 38.


Then from eq(1)  B = 62 - 38 = 24.


Answer.  The numbers are 38 and 24.
