x + y = 9
.25x + .75y = .54(9)
and everytime I try this equation I get it wrong. I've tried it about 6 times already.

(1) x + y = 9
(2) 0.25x + 0.75y = 4.86 (0.54(9) = 4.86)
(1)�> x=9-y
Substitute "9-y" for "x" in (2):
(0.25)(9-y) + 0.75y = 4.86
2.25 - 0.25y + 0.75y = 4.86
0.5y = 4.86-2.25
0.5y = 2.61
y = 2.61/0.5 = 5.22
y=5.22 �> x=9-5.22 = 3.78,
so x=3.78 and y=5.22

0.25x+0.75y = 0.25(3.78) + 0.75(5.22) = 0.945 + 3.915 = 4.86 (ok)
