Question 1039677: Hello.
I would like some help solving this word problem. I'm really stuck. Can someone please help?
A chemist has two solutions of HCl. One has a 40% concentration and the other has a 25% concentration. How many liters of each solution must be mixed to obtain 93 liters of a 26% solution?
Thank you in advance!!!
Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
LESSON: Mixing two concentrations for known amount of mixture
This can be done using just one single variable instead of two variables. You want volume of 93 liters, so if maybe v is the volume to use of the higher concentration material, then 93-v is the volume to use of the lower concentration material. NOW you can write ONE equation in just ONE variable.
