Question 1032645: how many ounces of 10% alcohol solution must be mixed with 16 ounces of 15% alcohol solution to make 11% alcohol solution
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call the number of ounces of 10%, x.
The set up looks like this:
(.10)x + (.15)(16) = (.11)(x+16)
.10x + 2.4 = .11x + 1.76
Collecting terms we get
2.4 = .01x + 1.76
.64 = .01x
x = 64 ounces of 10%
