Question 1022581: how many ounces of 6% should be combined with a 20% in order to create a 70-ounce mixture that is 12% alcohol?
Amount of 6%=
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call the amount of 6% solution x.
Then the amount of 20% solution would be 70-x.
We then set it up like this:
.06x + .20(70-x) = .12(70)
.06x + 14 - .20x = 8.4
-.14x = -5.6
x = 40 ounces at 6%
