Change these ratios to percent salt in decimal form
= .20 salt
and
= .375 salt

How much of each should be mixed together in order to obtain 280 quarts of a solution that is 3 parts salt to 7 parts water?
Change to percent salt
= .30 salt

Let x = amt of 37.5 % salt
then
(280-x) = amt of 20% salt

A typical mixture equation
.375x + .20(280-x) = .30(280)
.375x + 56 - .20x = 84
.375x - .20x = 84 - 56
