What will the population of the united states be in 2025 if this growth continues?

Question 108367: My question is not in my textbook. It is a take home sheet
I have a problem that I do not know how to set up can you help me? The word problem is: The function f(x)=1+1.5ln(x+1) models the average number of free-throws a basketball player can make consecutively during practice as a function of time, where x is the number of consecutive days the basketball player has practiced for two hours. After how many days of practice can the basketball player make an average of 10 consecutive free throws?

Science and medicine. The equation h = -16t^2 + 112t gives the height of an arrow, shot upward from the ground with an initial velocity of 112 ft/s, where t is the time after the arrow leaves the ground. Find the time it takes for the arrow to reach a height of 180 ft.

Question 108689: A landscaper wants to put a cement walk of uniform width around a rectangular garden that measures 24 by 40 feet. She has enough cement to cover 740 square feet. To the nearest tenth of a foot, how wide should the walk be in order to use up all the cement?
There is a group of us working on this problem. However, we have got two different answers. Can you please provide your answer if these are wrong or your opinion if one is right? Thanks much :)

Therefore the walk should be 5.7 feet wide.

4x^2+128x+960-960=740
4x^2+128x=740
4x^2+128x-740=0
4x^2+128x740/4=0/4
x^2+32x-185=0
(x+35)(x-2)
x= -35
x=2
The path can not bee -35 so the answer would be 2ft is the width of the walk.

Question 109030: The number of milligrams of a certian subtance per liter in samples of drinking water all tested within .05 to 40 milligrams per liter. Write this information as an inequality, using absoulute value.
At first I thought that this would be set up as the absolute value of .05< =40. BUt now I am not so sure. Can you please explain to me what I should do differently?
Also do inequalities always have to be able to be solved?
