Question 93658: Sorry this is not from a book.
Tickets for a play at the community theater cost $14 for and adult and $2 for a child. If 270 tickets were sold and the total receipts were $2340, how many of each type of ticket were sold?
I do not think I am setting the right equation. x + y + 270 = 2340 I am sure I am off because it does not look right. Any help in the right direction would be wonderful. Thanks....
