A drama club plans to sell 100 tickets to a school musical. An adult ticket costs $6, and a student ticket costs $4. Students who attend the school get a $1 discount. The club expects two-thirds of the student tickets to be discounted. Write an equation that gives the total revenue r (in dollars) as a function of the number (a) of adult tickets sold.

----------------------------------
Let number of adult tickets sold be "x" ; value of these is 6x dollars
--------------
Number of student tickets sold is "100-x"
(2/3)(100-x) sell for 3 dollars; have a value of 3[(2/3)(100-x)]=200-2x
(1/3)(100-x) sell for 4 dollars; have a value of 4[(1/3)(x-100)]=(4/3)x-(400/3)
-------------------
EQUATION:
Revenue = 6x + 200-2x +(4/3)x-(400/3)
= (16/3)x +(200/3) dollars
