Question 995529: AN article is sold for Rs.45 for a LOSS OF 10 % . IF IT IS SOLD AT RS 65 , THE GAIN PERCENT IS ?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
algebraically you would solve this as follows:
x = original price.
x - .10 * x = 45
.90 * x = 45
x = 45 /.90
x = 50
your original price is 50.
if your original price is 50 and you sell it for 65, then the percent gain can be repsented algebraically as follows:
50 + x * 50 = 65
x * 50 = 65 - 50
x * 50 = 15
x = 15 / 50
x = .30 * 100 = 30%.
if you sell it for 45 at a loss of 10%, then the original price must have been 50.
if the original price is 50 and you sell it for 65, then your percent again would be 30%.
