Hi there,
If Jae travels at a rate of 9 mph
and Jane travels at a rate of 6 mph
9x + 6x = 12 miles
15x = 12
x = 12/15 = 0.8
9x = 9 x 0.8 = 7.2
6x = 6 x 0.8 = 4.8
Therefore it will be 0.8 x 60 = 48 mins
when they are 12 miles apart.
Hope this helps :-)
