Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
They earn $7.80 a week per hour plus 'time and a half' for any time over 40 which they work in a week.''
i am supposed to transform this into an equation
----------------------------
Let "x" be the number of hours worked
They earn 7.80x for working x hours.
They earn (3/2)*7.80 for every hour over 40
---------------
EQUATION:
Earnings = 7.80x + (3/2)7.80(x-40)
Earnings = 7.80x + (3/2)7.80x - (3/2)*7.80*40
Earnings = (5/2)7.80x - 468
