Question 985234: A jet plane holds 1000gallons of fuel. Fuel weighs 6.00lbs/gal. The engine consumes 1200lbs/hr. The speed of the plane is 550mph. How far can the plane go on 1000 gals of fuel?
Answer by ikleyn(52803)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

In total,  the jet holds  1000 gallons x 6.00 = 6000 lbs  of fuel.

It is enough to fly for   = 5 hours.

So,  the plane can fly as far as  550 x 5 hours = 2750 miles.
