Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since we are looking for least amount spent, we use the lowest detergent price ($2.20 per bottle) and the smallest amount of detergent (1/4 bottle):
.
16 loads x 1/4 bottle/load x $2.20/bottle=$8.80
ANSWER: The least Sally will spend for detergent for 16 loads is $8.80 (Choice (D)).
.
PS: I don't know for sure about the section, either, but I took my best shot and moved this to Miscellaneous Word Problems.
