On a road trip, a family drives one third of the way on the first day. After driving 200 miles on the second day, they are seven ninths of the way to their destination. How many miles is there trip?

I think,although I'm not 100% positive, that the 200 miles are 4/9 of the way. Therefore, once you add the 1/3 you have 7/9. Meaning that they still need to drive 2/9 of the way. I don't know what to do next... your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

200/(4/9)=
200*9/4=1800/4=450 mi total

Here is the equation for what you basically said
let d = total dist of the trip
d = d + 200 + d
d = d + 200 + d
d = d + 200
d - d = 200
d = 200
d = 200 *
cancel 4
d = 50 * 9
d = 450 mi
