Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
TICKETS FOR A BENEFIT DINNER WERE ON SALE FOR THREE WEEKS.
TWICE AS MANY TICKETS WERE SOLD DURING THE THIRD WEEK AS WERE SOLD DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS COMBINED.
iF A TOTAL OF 1,095 TICKETS WERE SOLD, HOW MANY WERE SOLD THE THIRD WEEK?
-------------
Let # of 1st and 2nd week sales be "x".
Then # of 3rd week sales is 2x
EQUATION:
x + 2x = 1095
3x = 1095
x = 365 tickets sold in the first two weeks.
2x = 730 tickets sold in the third week.
