Question:
Dainiela and Claire both have summer jobs. By the end of the summer Claire has earned 3 times the amount of money Daniela earned. If together they earned $2400, how much money did Daniela Earn.

x+3x=2400
4x=2400
2400/4=600
x=600
So Dainiela has earned $600 and Claire has earned $1800 (600*3).
To check this:
add 1800+600=$2400
