she bought 12 apples and ate 2, leaving 10 ... she sold the 10 for .20 more per apple than she paid ... her profit was 1.00

let x=selling price ... 10x-1.00=12(x-.20) ... 10x-1=12x-2.4 ... 1.4=2x ... .70=x
