: pg128. The Alan Company bought 80 tickets for a jazz concert. After giving away 20 tickets to customers, the company sold the rest to employees at 1/2 the purchase price. If the company absorbed a $1000 loss on all the tickets how much did an employee pay for a ticket?
I know that 80x - 20 = 60(1/2x) and lost (-) $1000. Please help me set up. Thank you!

let x=employee cost ... (80*company cost)-(loss)=(60*employee cost)

80(2x)-1000=60x ... 160x-1000=60x ... 100x=1000 ... x=10
