Question 959509: If a ball is thrown directly upward with a velocity of 44 ft/s, its height (in feet) after t seconds is given by y = 44t − 16t2. What is the maximum height attained by the ball? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)
Answer by amarjeeth123(570)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y = 44t − 16t2
For maximum height dy/dt=0
44-32t=0
32t=44
t=44/32sec=11/8sec=1.375sec
Maximum height attained by the ball=44(1.375)-16(1.375)^2=30.25 feet
Answer=30.25 feet
