  Jack and harry are class-fellows.they received equal amounts as pocket money from their fathers on certain day.
jack bought an ice cream cup while harry bought three ice cream cups of the same kind if the remaining amounts of jack and harry were 40 and 20 respectively.f
:
let p = price of an ice cream cup
then
p + 40 = 3p + 20
40 - 20 = 3p - p
20 = 2p
p = 20/2
p = $10 for a cup of ice cream!!
:
Then
10 + 40 = $50 was their initial amt of pocket money
