If the side of a square increase by 4 cm .the area increased by 60 sqcm. the side square are ?
solution
Let side of square is X area will be X^2
if side increased to 4 cm than new side is X+4 new area =(X+4)^2
increased area = X^2-(X+4)^2 =60 by using a^2 -b^2= (a+b)(a-b)
(x-x-4)(x+x+4)=60
4(2x+4)=60
2x+4 =15
2x=15-4=11
x=11/2=5.5 cm
answer side of square is 5.5
