Question 928950: joe has a collection of nickels and dimes thats worth $7.25. if the number of dimes were doubled and the number of nickles were increased by 15, the value of the coins would be $13.30. how many dimes does he have?
Answer by ewatrrr(24785)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-2(10x + 5y = 725)
10(2x) + 5(y+15) = 1330
75 - 5y = -120
-5y = -195
y = 39, number of nickels. Dimes 53.
And...checking
530 + 195 = 725 0r $7.25
