In the second hour, they sold 1/3 of the remaining peaches plus 1/3 of a peach. In the third hour, they sold � of what was left plus � of a peach. During the final hour, they sold 1/5 of the peaches that were left plus 1/5 of a peach. Fiona and Camilla went home with 19 whole peaches. How many peaches did they take to the market?

let x be the number of peaches they took to the market, then
(x/2 + (1/2)) + ( (x/6 +(1/3)) + (x/12 +( 3/4)) + (x/20 + (1/5)) = x - 19
note that they sold 1/2 of peaches so 1/2 is left, 1/3 of 1/2 = 1/6 so 2/6 are left, 1/4 of 2/6 = 2/24 = 1/12 so 3/12 is left, 1/5 of 3/12 = 1/20
lcm is 120
60x+60 +20x+40 +10x+90 +6x+24 = 120x -2280
96x +214 = 120x -2280
-24x = -2494
x = 103.9 peaches were taken to market
