Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 m x 50 cm = 100 cm x 50 cm
----------------------------
8 cm goes into 100 cm 12.5 times,
so make that 12 times
--------------------
8 cm goes into 50 cm 6.25 times,
so make that 6 times
--------------------

You can get 72 of the 8 cm x 8 cm pieces
out of the material
-------------------
The waste in % is:

7.8%
That's a lot of waste, but I don't
think you can avoid it
