Answer by JoelSchwartz(130)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=the first unknown
y=second unknown number
x+x+x=the first number summed three times.
5y=the second unknown multiplied by five
3x+5y=61=The first number summed up three times added to five times the second unknown equals 61.
y=1+x=the second unknown equals one plus the first unknown.
3x+5(1+x)=61
3x+5+5x=61
8x+5=61
8x=56
x=7
The first unknown equals seven the second unknown equals eight.
3*7+5y=61
5y=40
y=8
