Question 908894: If I had bought a new $15 shirt last month, I would have spent $20 on clothes so far this year. This month, I plan to buy that shirt and a $5 pair of socks. By the end of this month, how much will I have spent on clothes this year?

This is written in a confusing manner. Have you already bought that shirt? It would appear that you have not. So far, then, you have spent only $5 on clothes. Now you're going to spend $15 on that shirt and $5 on socks. Your total expenditure at that point will be the $5 you already spent and the $20 you're spending this month, for a grand total of $25.
