Question 900883: How many gallons of a 3% salt solution must be mixed with 50 gallons of a 7% solution to obtain a 5% solution?
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
0.03*x+0.07*50=0.05(50+x)
0.03*x+3.5=2.5+0.05x
0.03x-0.05x=2.5-3.5
-0.02x=-1
x=50
check
0.03*50+0.07*50=0.05(50+50)
1.5+3.5=0.05(100)
5=5
ok
