Question 899777: Could you please help me with this question?
The bus fare in a city is $2.00. People who use the bus have the option of purchasing a monthly coupon book for $24.00. With the coupon book, the fare is reduced to $1.00. Determine the number of times and the month the bus be used so that the total monthly cost without the coupon book is the same as the total monthly cost with the coupon book.

Assuming 30 days for a month, which you might later re-choose for an adjusted solution. Also, assuming purchase of fares separately for going and for returning.
Regular bus fares, dollars.
Coupon book fares, dollars, using d days of non-discount bus usage days for matching the regular bus fares total.
24 days without the coupon discount and 12 days with the use of the coupon book (because assuming 1 dollar either direction with the coupon book, so 12*2).
