I would like to know if I'm using the correct equations for this word problem.
If you add two years to a boys age, he will be one quarter of his fathers age. Five years ago the father was one year less than ten times his sons age.
I am using these two equations...
B+2=D/4
D-5=10B-1
Are these the correct equations?
I agree with josmiceli(11751), although it should have read: "Five years ago the father was one year
less than ten times his sons age, THEN, instead of: "Five years ago the father was one year less
than ten times his sons age."
The 1st is correct, but the 2nd should read:
When solved the boy should be 9 and the dad, 44.
