Question 889035: Ok I know this isnt algebra related but i was wondering if there are any chemisrty buffs out there who can help me on this one. All the tutors have been great and was wondering if anyone could help me out. A solution with a total volume of 500 mL contains 25 g of LiCl. What is the percent (m/v) of LiCl in the solution?

I'm not 100% familiar with chem, but I think you just divide the mass (25 g) by the volume (500 ml) to get
m/v = 25/500 = 0.05
0.05 = (0.05*100)% = 5%
So 5% of the solution is LiCl

Nearly ANY of the tutors who you asked should be able to help you with this question.
The 25 grams of salt in the 500 ml. total volume is not too concentrated, so you can probably ignore density. For m/v, meaning "MASS PER VOLUME", the concentration is , or %, as mass per volume.
5% LiCl.
Just be aware that this concentration may be significant enough to require accounting for density. Consult a handbook for that.
