Translate the following statements into inequalities.
and use x to represent the number
1. 2 times a number, increased by 28, is less than or equal to 6 times that number.
Do it like this:
" 2 times a number"; 2x
"increased by 28": 2x + 28
"is less than or equal to 6 time that number": = <= 6x
We have:
2x + 28 <= 6x

:
Let the 4th grade which is unknown = x: Write an average equation:
=> 70
:
=> 70
:
Simplify, get rid of the denominator, mult both sides by 4
x + 206 => 4(70)
x + 206 => 280
x => 280 - 206
x => 74
