A plane leaves Denver, colorado, on June 1st at 1 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and arrives at New York City on June 2nd at 2 A.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time. the actual time of this flight was...
A. 10 hours B. 11 hours C. 12 hours D. 13 hours
I don't do much traveling, but there are two hours of difference between Mountain Standard Time and Eastern Standard Time, right? However, Daylight Saving Time is one hour EARLIER than Eastern Standard Time, so the total difference in time is 3 hours. Therefore, when it is 2 A.M. in New York, it is really only 11 p.m. in Colorado, for a flight of 10 hours.
As a confirmation, here is another way to explain it:
2 a.m. EDT in NY = 1:00 a.m. EST in NY
1:00a.m. EST in NY = 11:00 p.m. MST in Colorado
Flight was from 1 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., which is 10 hours.
I'm not going to bet my life on this one, but I'm pretty sure the answer is A. 10 hours. See if my argument sounds right. Re-post the question, and see if anyone else agrees or disagrees with me.
