Assuming that on a blueprint 1/4 inch equals 12 inches, the actual length in feet of a steel bar represented on the blueprint by a line 3 3/8 inches long is.....

x/[3 3/8] = (1/4)/(12)
x/[27/8] = 1/48
x = (27/8)*(1/48)
x = 27/384
x = 9/128 inches long or 0.0703125 inches long

x/[3 3/8] = (1/4)/(12) <---------------------------------------- This should be which is the same as
x/[27/8] = 1/48 <----------------------------------------------- Therefore, the should actually be 48
x = (27/8)*(1/48)
x = 27/384 <---------------------------------------------------- Which then changes this answer into which is equal to 102 inches
x = 9/128 inches long or 0.0703125 inches long <--------------- at this point, you would divide 102 by 12 to change inches into feet . Therefore, the actual length of the steel bar is .
